One of the characteristics of Moroccan craftsmen is the richness of the knowledge which they accumulate through the centuries. In the field of Zellij, the maallem Megzari Haj Larbi, Ben Mohammed Ben Ghali Ben Abbas, represents the fourth generation of Maallems "Zellijers".

  A unique artisan, he excels in his work and is the one and only expert in this Arabic/Muslim art. Born in Fez, he devoted his whole life to this noble trade with great love. He uses his genius to conceive colour, assemble and present traditional designs which dazzle the eye.

Eager to perpetuate his art, he managed to instil in his sons the rudiments of the trade since childhood. Holding graduate degrees, the sons introduced a touch of modernity, while respecting tradition. They created new models and new designs on  the computer. They also succeeded in making applications to other materials such as:  marble, wood, copper, plaster, and ceramics. This all became possible thanks to the computer-assisted design and cuttings recently introduced by the fifth generation “Maalems”.
